"O.P" Smock was evidently a half brother of Amanda's. Not sure why "half" but this is from old family notes. OP is for Oliver Perry-a Wescott family tradition that one male in each generation was so named as two Wescotts, Izra and Mark, served on the Great Lakes with Admiral Oliver Perry in the War of 1812. Amanda's grandfather was Oliver Perry Wescott, b. 1813. Have not confirmed if either Mark or Izra was his father, but the name and dates fit.
