The following is a quote from an e-mail dated March 30, 1998 from Clavin Lanny Jones Menefee, adopted son of John Ambrose Menefee:
" John A., was a County Attorney for 38 years for Upton Co., Texas, he received his law degree from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1929. Before that everything is in the dark. I think he was just starting to Law School when the birth certificate for John A. was Registered.
"The house that his mother lived in was one of the first houses that was build in Austin, TX."
There are two birth certificates for John. One states that his name is George Quinn Menefee,Jr., and that he was born Feb. 15, 1908, the other states that his name is John Ambrose Menefee, born Feb. 15, 1908. They both lists George Quinn Sr., and Willana Graham as his mother, both have the same file number (66825) from the Austin Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics, one was filed Feb 25, 1908 and the other November 9, 1926. Therefore this is the reason that Calvin beleives that George Quinn Menefee, Jr., changed his name to John Ambrose Menefee. S
He married Mary L. Campbell in Pecos County Texas on July 26, 1936, and married her again in Upton County Texas, on Dec. 17, 1936?"
