Note: OBIT: KERMIT CRISSEY, TEACHER AND PRINCIPAL TEXT: Services for Kermit Crissey, longtime educator and principal, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. Crissey, 66, died Wednesday (Aug. 16, 1989) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a long illness. He will be buried in Acacia Park Cemetery. Born in Tonawanda, Crissey graduated from Tonawanda schools and Buffalo State College, and earned a master's degree from the University at Buffalo in 1954. He began his teaching career in Brant. He also served a principal of the Philip Sheridan and Benjamin Franklin schools in the Town of Tonawanda. He was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association; Phi Delta Kappa; the Buffalo State Alumni Association, and was a life member of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. During his career, he earned the New York State PTA distinguished service award as well as the organization's 40-year service award. He served as a past president of PTA and on the PTA state advisory board. He was a life member of the Tonawanda Masons; a member of the Kenmore School Masters League for 40 years; the Twin City Bowling Hall of Fame; Stephen Sikora Post, American Legion, North Tonawanda; the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post in Tonawanda; Unknown Club; American Bowling Congress, and the Atlantic Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Anita M. Greene Popovich of North Tonawanda; his mother, Sadie Crissey of San Marino, Calif.; two sons, Kermit Crissey Jr. and Gregory Crissey of Buffalo; three daughters, Kathy Allier of Buffalo, Claudia Slonka of Kenmore, and Heather Cerankowski; a step-daughter, Debra Cross of Allen, Texas; a stepson, Paul S. Popovich of Rochester; two brothers, David J. Crissey of North Tonawanda and Dr. John A.
