a. Note:   Mary is in the 1901 census as "head of household" so obviously, James had died by then. Don't know exactly when. Mary is in the 1911 census and her daughter-in-law Mary is living with her. This Mary is James's wife and James is most likely roaming, as he did after Alex was hanged in 1877. On her death certificate it says that one of her daughters, Mary O'Donnell from Inisfree, was present at the time of death.
