Notes
a. Note:   Ethel's Birthday (30th May 1928)
Our Ethels birthday has come round And many presents she has found Sweet eighteen she will be today My how the time does pass away Seems like yesterday a little thing She sat on our doorstep for to sing Her little dolly sent to sleep She seemed to fall to thinking deep Till soon the men passing for dinner Tickled their darling little Limmer Such a wee fat smiling dear The men all loved her voice to hear And everyone from Jen to Joe Had the same salute, her wee hello And syne she tripped off to school With jean her sister as a rule But she still retained that winning beam As other maidens we have seen And now she's grown a tall young lady And has indeed a lad already Tho both are young we are pleased to see They love the Lord like you and me They are dear to us everyone Our darling girls and only son But in Dad's heart Ethel will remain The wee shy maid with the modest strain.
