Note: The Lincoln Co Courthouse burned to the ground around 1909. This was before records were sent to Charleston, the state capitol. Some of the records were reconstructed. I had to rely heavily upon Family Bibles and older members of family to find the Elkins history. Many of them moved west to New Mexico and Arizona. Through older family members in WV, I was able to talk to the sons and grandchildren in the West who were very helpful and had family records. They also solved the mystery of all the Richard Elkins and who they married.
