Mullen supt E. 31st NE cor E. Glisan ----- The Kelsonian, KELSO, WASHINGTON, Wednesday, April 17, 1907: Drowned in the Coweeman While working on the logs about five miles above Kelso Monday afternoon, George Cannon, for several years a resident of Kelso, was drowned. Foreman Elmer Evans, who was working with him, says that he had his back turned for a short time when he heard a splash, and turning around saw Cannon disappear under the surface. He never came up, so it is presumed he became frightened and started to swallow water. His body was recovered about two hours later and brought to town. Cannon was a well known character about town, and leaves several brothers and sisters, besides a wife and two children, the latter having been separated from him for a year or more. Undertaker Stoves prepared the body for burial, which was laid to rest in the I. O. O. F. cemetery today. - Kelso I. O. O. F. Cemetery is now Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens. Exact burial site unknown. ----- The Kelsonian, KELSO, WASHINGTON, Saturday, April 20, 1907 "Terse Tales of the Town" column: The drowning of George Cannon last monday recalls the death of Harvey Elliott in a like manner over a year ago. Cannon and Elliott were both teamsters for G. F. Hartzell about the same time and were working together very often. The death of both in the same manner is regarded as a co-incidence by many Kelso people. -----
