Campbell, whose death occurred at his home in Second street on Friday, August 10th, brief mention of which was made in the JOURNAL of last week, was a well known and esteemed resident of Elkland. His illness extended back about two years, and for the past five weeks he had been confined to his bed. Jones, Miss Rena, Clyde and Mildred Campbell, all of Elkland, and two brothers, E. B. Campbell of Nelson and Joseph Campbell of Michigan. John C. Forty years of his life was spent at his birthplace, but for the past sixteen years he has resided at Elkland. The deceased was converted three years ago and united with the Methodist Church of this place. The funeral was held at his late home Monday, August 13, and was attended by a large concourse of relatives and sympathetic friends. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The services were conducted by Rev. W. F. Wells, Rev. W. H. Henderson, of Addison, and Rev. D. L. Pitts, of Painted Post. Appropriate selections were rendered by the choir. The interment was at Nelson. The casket bearers were nephews of the deceased and were as follows: T. C. Campbell, James Parks, Horace Daniels, Frank D. Selph, John Kemp, and Otis Clark. Those in attendance from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Horace Daniels, Penn Yan; Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Campbell, Knoxville; Mr. and Mrs. James Park Harrison Valley; Rev. D. L. Pitts and wife, Painted Post; J. D. Campbell, M. B. Seely, Mrs. E. C. Blackwell, Mrs. Lockwood Preston, Nelson; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Johnson, David Kemp and sons, Harry, John and Bert, Farmington.
