Note:   Wellsboro Gazette of Apr. 9, 1953. p13 has: Horace Marion Mathers Horace Marion Mathers, 80, died at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital early Monday morning following a long illness. The son of William T. Mathers, he was born in Wellsboro on August 28, 1872. Surviving are his wife, Grace, two daughters, Miss Mary Mathers, at home, Mrs. Ellen LaMothe, of Jackson Heights, L. I.; five sons, Robert and William, both of Wellsboro, Howard, with the U. S. Navy, Francis, of Wellsville, N. Y., DeForest C., of Riverdale, Md.; eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Johnson & Tussey Funeral Home. Rev. Robert W. L. Mark, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial in Wellsboro cemetery. "Hoddy" Mathers, as he was familiarly known here by his many friends, was an expert upholstery man and down through the years had served in rebuilding and repairing many choice antiques in this community with expert skill.
