Thompson, 79, of 17 Spring St., Afton, formerly of 208 Park Ave., Binghamton, died Sunday afternoon at Binghamton General Hospital after a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessica H. Thompson, Afton; a daughter, Mrs. Anne McCard, Afton; three sons, Walter F. Thompson, Jr., Binghamton, Henry G. Thompson, Hallstead, Pa., and William B. Thompson, Endwell; a brother, Maurice G. Thompson, Candler, N.C.; grandchildren Miss Judith Thompson, St. Petersburg, Fla., George Gibson, Afton, Michael G. Thompson, Hallstead, Warren D. Thompson, Endwell and Steven R. Thompson of Endwell; two cousins and two nephews. He was a member of the Ross Memorial Presbyterian Church; a former Link Employee. The funeral and committal services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank L. DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Ave., Binghamton. The Rev. George L. Tappan, pastor emeritus of the Ross Memorial Presbyterian church and Rev. Andrus B. Smith, pastor of St. Ann's Church, Afton, will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make memorial donations to the Ross Memorial Fund of Ross Memorial Presbyterian Church.}
