a. Note:   FORMER ADDISON HILL RESIDENT INSTANTLY KILLED IN FALL Philip E. Young, general gent of the Union Central Life Insurance Company of Elmira, formerly of Addison Hill, was instantly killed about 8:45 o'clock Friday morning when he fell from the window of his office on the fifth floor of the Huett Building, Elmira. It is believed that the decedent suffered a dizzy spell as he raised the office widow and fell forward. Mrs. Young was in an outer office at the time but did not witness the accident. Mr. Young was born at Addison Hill the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Young. Besides his wife three sons, Roswell, of Boston; the Rev. C. J. Young of Rockville Center, N. J. [sic], and Edward of New York City survive, besides one daughter, Mrs. John C. Roe, of Elmira; also two brothers, Harry of Elmira, and Wirt of Addison Hill and two sisters, Miss Frances Young of Addison Hill and Mrs. Beatrice Sprague of Canisteo. * * * SAD DEATH OF P. E. YOUNG Elmirans were shocked Friday afternoon, when the news of the tragic death of Philip E. Young, spread throughout the city. Falling through an open window in his office, on the firth floor of the Hulett Building, life was snuffed out in an instant. Engaged in business in this city, thirty years. and having won and held thousands of friends and business associates, it is not surprising that widespread sorrow followed the report of his death. Not only in the city, but throughout the surrounding vicinity, he was known through his business , fraternal, church and social relations. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to his wife and members of the family, who will feel the sad blow the keenest. * * * PHILIP E. YOUNG Philip E. Young, general agent of the Union Central Life Insurance Company in this city, was killed instantly Friday morning at 8:45 o'clock in a fall from a window of his offices on the fifth floor of the Hulett Building. Mr. Young would have been 60 years old next Tuesday. He was born at Addison Hill, Steuben County, and located in Corning when a young man, engaging in the insurance business. About 20 years ago he came to Elmira and for many years past had been general agent for the Union Central Life Insurance Company of Cincinnati. He was the father of three sons, Roswell of Boston, C. J. Young of Rockville Center, N. J. [sic], and Edward of New York City. One daughter, Mrs. John C. Roe of this city, survives as does the widow and five grandchildren. Philip E. Young had been a member of Union Lodge, F. and A. M. for many years. He was a member of the Corning Concistory, Scottish Rite, and the Mystic Shrine. Mr. Young also was a charter member to the Elmira Masonic Choir, which was organized in 1908. He was a member of the quartet choir of the First Presbyterian Church many years and was prominent in musical circles in the city. He was a member of the Elmira Country Club and a charter member of the Rotary Club. The body reposes at the Smith & Fudge Funeral Home and will be taken this afternoon to the family home, 457 Maple avenue , at an hour to be announced later. The Rev. W. Hamilton Benham, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
