  THOMAS BLACKWELL' CLEVELAND (Ezra^, Benjamin Norton^, Benjamin Norton^ Ichabod', Moses^, Mosesi), m. Lyons Farms, Essex (now Union) co., N. J., ]uly 13, 1852, Martha Hayes Crane, b. Newark, N. J., Nov. 16, 1832, a da. of Ambrose and Lydia Hayes (Pike) Crane, s. p. Adopted child :
  8274 Emma Louisa Cleveland, b. Sept. 25, 1876, m. Newark, Oct. 10, 1894, Robert Barclay Dunham, son of Daniel H. Dunham. Res. Newark, with Firemen's Insurance Co. of Newark, of which his father is president.
  Thomas Blackwell' Cleveland resided at Elizabethtown (now Elizabeth), N. J., to Oct., 1847, Newark to 1880, afterward in Roseville, Newark; res. Newark, 1894-7. Manufacturing jeweler. He commenced as apprentice to Isaac and Joseph Ailing; was of firm Ailing [Joseph] & Cleveland, Jan., 1858, to Sept., 1862 ; was superinte'ndent for J. & J. Ailing to their dis- solution. On retiring from them he was presented an ebony cane by the employes and a gold watch by the firm, the presentation ceremonies noticed in Nezvark Advertiser, Aug. 10, 1881. He then with others organized the jeweller firm, Isaac A. Ailing & Co. [James S. Holmes and Thomas B. Cleveland], retiring therefrom, 1883.
