Notes
a. Note:   Mrs. Shewman Dies at 77 Mrs. Mary Campbell Shewman, who with her late husband, Omar C. Shewman. owned and operated the Campbell Hotel at 219 3rd Ave. N., died Sunday at the home of her daughter at 3130 7th Ave N. Mrs. Shewman had lived here for 33 years, coming from Rochester, N. Y. She attended the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, John Shewman, Sun Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Jason Zurflieh, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Jones, both of St. Petersburg, and two grandson, Tommy and Jay Zurflieh. John S. Rhodes, Inc is in charge of arrangements. * * * "Grandma Shewman was a 4'-11" bundle of energy. She ran the Campbell House almost by herself. She always encouraged me with words like "You can do anything you set your mind to." In about 1955 she was on an extended visit to her son John, in Tujunga, CA, and had a severe stroke. She returned, still in very poor condition, to live with my parents. She believed in Christian Science principles and restored her health almost by sheer will power. She died while playing bridge with my mother, dad, and me. She was my partner, and when it was her turn to bid, there was a long silence. We looked up, she slumped down and keeled over dead. This was a very traumatic moment for all of us, but a very nice way to go. I hope that I can go as quickly and peacefully. It was July 1, 1965." --- Tom Zurflieh, May 2014 * * * Se http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~capane/ReunionMinutes1940.html
