a. Note:   Wellsboro Gazette of Thurs., Nov. 29, 1951, p7 has: Mrs. A. W. Lugg Knoxville---Mrs. Emma Starkey Lugg, wife of A. Waldo Lugg passed away at her home here last Friday morning. She had been in failing health for several months. She was in her 86th year. Mrs. Lugg, daughter of Henry M. and Emiline H. Starkey, was born near Mansfield on August 9, 1866. After graduating from Mansfield Normal School in 1886 she came to Knoxville to teach in the primary grades of the public school. On August 23, 1890, she was united in marriage to A. Waldo Lugg. A member of the First Baptist Church of Knoxville, Mrs. Lugg was active in both church and Sunday school work, teaching a Sunday school class for over 50 years. She also served as church clerk for many years and as deaconess of her church. She was a member of Eastern Star and active in community and church affairs all during her life. Surviving Mrs. Lugg are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. H. P. Austin, of Jamestown, N. Y., a son R. Hugh Lugg, and three grandson, Robert S. Lugg, Donald E. Lugg and Allan W. Lugg, all of Knoxville. Funeral services were held last Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Knoxville, the Rev. H. C. Wray officiating.
