a. Note:   Registered for draft, June, 1917 * * * Wellsboro Gazette of Nov. 21, 1946, p2 has: Charles R. Howe Lawrenceville --- Charles Robert Howe, 60, died at his home here after an extended illness. He was born in Middlebury township, Sept. 9, 1866, son of Jesse L. and Mary Lugg Howe, and had been a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 40 years. He is survived by his wife Rena Howe, and two sons, Ellsworth L. and Melvin Howe, both of Lawrenceville; one sister, Mrs. Roy L. Smith, of Corning; one brother, Jerome B. Howe, of Elmira. A prayer service was held Monday, followed by funeral in the Presbyterian church, Rev. Victor C. Detty officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceville cemetery. Those from out-of-town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs Jerome B. Howe, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pooley, Elmira; Mr. and Mrs Roy L. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Gorman, of Corning; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lugg, of Nelson; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Tremaine, Mrs. Walfred Johnson of Tioga Junction; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Haynes of Corning and Bruce Hostrancer, of Painted Post.
