a. Note:   Wellsboro Gazette of Apr 28, 1999, p7 has: EARL C. WEST Earl C West, 84, of Wellsboro RR 5 died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born Feb. 18, 1915, in Kennedyville, he was the son of John Frederick and Della Ludmgton West. He was a lifelong resident of the Wellsboro area. He was a graduate of Wellsboro High School, class of 1931. He was a dairy farmer in the West Branch area, he worked for Cornell Brothers Agway, Middlebury Center, PennDOT in Wellsboro and retired from Dresser Manufacturing, Wellsboro. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro, where he was a past deacon past choir member and usher chairman. He also served many years as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent at Stony Fork and Kennedyville Baptist churches. He volunteered at Broad Acres Nursing Home and at MOPS of Wellsboro. He once received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Broad Acres. He was also past member of the former Stony Fork Grange. Preceding him in death was his wife, Edna P West, on Oct 19, 1991. Surviving are five sons and daughters-in-law, Paul A. and Joyce G. West of Blairsville, Wilbur L. and Ann T. West of Wellsboro, Lawrence E. and Eileen O. West of Wellsboro, David J. and Lorraine M. West of Lebanon, and Donald F. and Lorene R. West of Wellsboro, two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise M. and Glenn F. Shirey of Kingston Springs, Tenn , and Deborah W. and Charles G. Borden of Wellsboro, two sisters and brother-in-law, Ella E. and Warren Lawton of Wellsboro and Wilma Morrow of Wellsboro, one brother and sister-in-law, George A. and Sally West of Wellsboro, 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held Thursday, April 22. at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Wellsboro and Friday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church, Wellsboro. Funeral services were held Friday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church, Wellsboro, with the Rev. John H McNassor officiating. Burial was made at West Branch Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 25-27 Central Ave., Wellsboro, PA 16901.
