Born May 30, 1903, in Columbia, NC, she was the daughter of Fred and Norah Sawyer Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Rose. She was a seamstress and attended the Church of Christ in Gum Neck, NC. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Emerson Rice of RD#1, Mansfield; six sisters, Mrs. Minnie Spencer, Mrs. Dezzie Rose, Mrs. Alma Spencer, Mrs. Alice Rose and Mrs. Aletha Norman, all of Columbia, NC and Mrs. Hettie Patrick of Elizabeth City, NC; brother, Shepard Armstrong of Columbia, NC; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Dec 9) at 1 pm at the Whitneyville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sandra Essinger-Hileman officiated. Burial was made in Whitneyville Cemetery, Sect A, Lot 22, Grave #3. Arrangements were made by Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home.
