a. Note:   Wellsboro Gazette of Nov. 30, 1944, p2 has: Receives Purple Heart The Purple Heart was awarded posthumously on Oct. 26 to Lt. Robert Edward English, who died Aug. 28 in action over Prance. The citation and medal were received last week by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. English. Lt. English enlisted in the Air Force on Dec. 12.. 1941. and was graduated from Boca Raton as a Flight Officer in January, 1944. In May he was commissioned a second lieutenant, retroactive to January. Early in June he went overseas, where he was a member of the crew of a P-61. He has two brothers in service, 1st. Lt. John D. English, in France and A. C. James D. English at Maxwell Field, Alabama.
