a. Note:   ry.html#tribute-start has: Edward R. "Ed" Evans, age 60, of Savona, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.
  Ed was born on July 28, 1956 in Rome, NY, the son of the late Edward H. and Barbara J. (Rodenmaker) Evans. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1978. He married Kathie Mills on August 5, 1978 in Risingville, NY. He was employed by Corning Inc. as a press operator, retiring in 2011 with 33 years of service. Ed will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. He would give the shirt off his back to those he loved. He was a true outdoorsman - enjoying hunting, fishing, and watching animals outside, especially the birds and buffalos. He was also a great cook and baker - often preparing large meals for big groups of people. His greatest joy came from his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Kathie Evans of Cameron Mills, NY; four daughters: Crystal (Jason) Shaut of Gastonia, NC, Tina (Christopher) Wawrzusin of Painted Post, NY, Brandi (Ron) Dailey of Addison, NY, Melisa Edsall of Hammondsport, NY; grandchildren: Justine, Tyler, Matthew, Mika, Dillyn, Shelbi, Jordan, Veronica, Evan, Ronnie, Jerry, Levi; brothers: Garry (Bev) Evans of Schenectady, NY and Mark Evans of Schenectady, NY; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Crystal Evans. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00pm, Pastor Mark Evans officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's name may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
