Kimball, former publisher of the Independence Enterprise, died Saturday morning at a local hospital after a short illness. He was 79. He owned the Enterprise from 1920 until the fall of 1938, when the paper was sold to Ralph Kietzing. Kimball owned a printing plant in Portland from then until his retirement in 1947 when he came to Salem to make his home at 2050 Myrtle Ave. He was born Dec. 14, 1872 in Osceola, Pa. On July 15, 1897 he was married to Helen Horton at Westfield, Pa., who survives him. Kimball was a member of the Westfield Lodge, F&AM for 55 years and the Royal Arch Masons if Independence. Surviving beside his widow are a daughter, Mrs. John E. (Faith) Black and grandson, Bruce K. Black, all of Salem. Funeral services will be held in the Clough-Barrick Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Louis E. White officiating. Internment will be in Belcrest Memorial Park.
