Note: Wellsboro Gazette of Feb 2, 1994, p10 has: VERNA A. BOWLING Verna Alexander Bowling, 71, of 107 Sherwood Land, North Syracuse, N.Y., died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 1994, at home. Born Aug. 19, 1922, in Morris, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Susie V. Compton Alexander. She lived in Syracuse for 38 years. She retired in 1983 from General Electric Co., Liverpool, N.Y., after 23 years in the semi-conductor department. She also worked as a licensed beautician in Wellsboro before moving to North Syracuse, N.Y. Surviving are her husband, Richard D. Bowling; one brother, Harold Alexander of Wellsboro; two sisters, Norma Thornton of Honesdale and June James of Dubois, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, on Sunday, Feb. 6, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Services will be held there Monday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Leroy Doverspike officiating. Burial will be made at Oregon Hill Cemetery.
