a. Note:   Berkshire Eagle of Jan 17, 2004 Charles R. "Randy" Blanchard Jr. [Obituary] DALTON -- Charles R. "Randy" Blanchard Jr., 90, formerly of 529 Kirchner Road, died at Craneville Place on Thursday. He had resided there since July 2003. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 17, 1913, son of Charles R. Blanchard Sr. and Emily Seely Blanchard, he was a 1931 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1932 graduate of Williston Academy. He also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked at Marland Mold Co. as a mold maker from 1962 to 1977. Prior to that he worked for Detroit Supply Co. in auto parts sales from 1948 to 1962. An accomplished musician, trumpeter and arranger, he played with many well-known local bands during the 1930s through the 1960s, including Kit Carson, Don Rettallick, Red Robinson, Tino Barzie, Louis Rodrigues and the Ernie St. John Orchestra. He also had his own band, Randy and the Rythmaires. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking and photography, and he was an avid fly fisherman, tying his own flies and making bamboo fly rods. He leaves two sons, Richard C. Blanchard of Salem and Ronald C. Blanchard of Acworth, Ga; a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters. * * * FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Charles R. "Randy" Blanchard Jr., who died on Jan. 15, 2004, will be held in the spring at the Ashuelot Cemetery. The date and time will be announced in the spring. There will be no calling hours. Among survivors are his daughters-in-law, Susan M. Blanchard of Salem and Lynette M. Blanchard of Acworth, Ga.; also his granddaughter, Tanya Waisielewski of Sugar Hill, Ga. A brother, Marcus S. Blanchard, predeceased him. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226, which is handling arrangements.
