A ONE-DAY LATE birthday greeting to Lawrence J. CAPELS of Baldwinsville on his 73rd. He was born and lived on Avenue and operated on of Gooley's Grocery Stores; later was employed at Halcomb Steel. He has 10 grandchildren and he enjoys telling them of the good old days delivering groceries with horse and buggy. (His West End friends will remember him as Larry CAPELS).

"CELEBRATES 86TH. Happy birthday to Lawrence Jerome Capels of State Fair Boulevard, Baldwinsville, who celebrated his 86th natal day yesterday. Larry, who lives with his granddaughter, Linda, at the State Fair Boulevard address, keeps active doing chores around the house and talking daily with his sister-in-law, Ellen Grady of Midland Avenue, who will soon become an octogenarian. Helping to celebrate the occasion were Larry's three children and spouses, Patricia and Joe JULIAN of Fulton; Bernard and "Boots" Capels of Silver Springs, Fla.; and Laura and Harry TREPASSO of 73 Evergreen St., Cortland. Also seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and his brother, William Capels. Mr. Capels operated Gooley's Market on Avery Avenue and later worked for many years at the Halcomb Steel Co. plant. He was one of a large family which grew up at 1010 Avery Ave. Larry is a news addict, reading the newspapers from cover to cover, and is also a TV fan. Last year on his 85th birthday he received a congratulatory note from President Carter and appreciated it--but said he wished Jimmy had thought to send along some peanuts. His daughter-in-law, "Boots" Capels, is celebrating a birthday today. She is 21-plus. And Larry's daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Joe Julian, are observing their 30th wedding anniversary today. Joe recently celebrated his 62nd birthday. The Julians have two sons, Harry and Joe, Jr."
