The 1850 Todd Co., Ky. census lists John Greenfield, age 41, his wife Jane, age 31, and the following children: 5 daughters; Mary (A. also called Polly), age 15, Susan (A.), age 12, Virgin(a), age 7, Martha, age 5 and Sarah (C.), age 5 mo., 2 sons;(James) Harvey, age 8 and John (William), age 2. ! The 1860 Todd Co., Ky. census lists John Greenfield, age 51, Jane, age 41, J.H. (James Harvey) age 17, Virginia, age 16, Martha, age 15, J.W. (John William), age 13, Sarah (C.), age 10, Eliza, age 9, F.P. (Franklin P.), age 6.
 ! The 1870 Todd Co., Ky. census lists John, age 60, Eliza A.(Eliza Ann Wilkins from Todd Co. Marr. 1820-1879, married July 18,1867) age 31,
 Sarah C., age 20, Peter S., age 9, and Joseph S., age 6 (listed as female but probably male).
 ! Neither John nor Jane show up on any later census records. In the Sears Family cemetery north of Elkton, Ky. in Todd Co. are the graves of John Greenfield (Born May 24, 1809-Died March 4, 1872), Jane Sears Greenfield (Born Sept. 29, 1819-Died April 29, 1864), Franklin P. Greenfield (Born Aug. 18, 1854-Died Jan. 3, 1863) and Charles W. Greenfield (Born Oct. 13, 1837-Died Jan. 29, 1844). There are several other graves that are marked (i.e. Sears, Rice, Driskill) that are obviously members of John or Jane Greenfield's family and many unmarked graves.
 ! The 1820-1879 Todd County, Ky. marriage records list a John Greenfield as married to Jane Sears on July 24, 1834; to Sarah M. Hardee on June 24, 1867 and to Eliza Ann Wilkins on July 18, 1867. It doesn't seem likely that John would marry two women in less than a month so it is assumed that the marriage to Sarah Hardee was another John Greenfield. However it is possible that he married three times.
