From Lafayette Journal & Courier, May 1952: Speeding Car Badly Wrecked; Three Injured Three local men were hurt, one seriously, when the car in which they were riding overturned several times Thursday near Lafayette. Carl Isenbarger, 23, of 1603 S. Fourth, was in a serious condition at St. Elizabeth Hospital; Roy Robinson, 29, of 116 S. Fifth, driver of the car, and Louis Madden, of 420 Lingle, owner of the car, were reported in fair condition by hospital authorities. State troopers said the accident occurred on Highway 25 near Springvale cemetery on the curve near the Miles McDill farm. Police said the car, a 1949 Oldsmobile, was apparently being driven at a high rate of speed and skidded 250 feet at the curve, then rolled over four times, coming to rest in a ditch. Apparently each time the car rolled over one of the occupants was thrown clear. Isenbarger and Robinson were unconscious when taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Following the wreck the car caught fire and was completely consumed. A Lafayette fire company extinguished the blaze. The accident was investigated by State Troopers John Miller and N. V. Miles.
