Note: ploma in ballet, tap and ballroom dancing at the age of 16yrs.In 1943 she joined the W.A.A.F in Birmingham and graduated as a nurse in 1944 at the Hendon Hospital and Little Risssington, Gloster and promoted to L.A.C.W. She met her husband Warrant Officer Leslie Parker at an advanced Flying unit in Little Rissington and they married 17th March 1945. They left England in Nov 1945 and arrived in Sydney in Jan 1946. Ron & Sheila lived in Armidale NSW where they became involved in the Cricket Club where Sheila became Cricket scorer for 2 yrs The family moved to the mining town of Mt Morgan in 1951and became very involved in many Clus and organizations. Ladies Welfare Bowling Club (Assits Secretary), 1959 - RSL Womens Auxiliary (Secretary) In 1955-Sheila was also a foundation Registrar of the Mt Morgan Welfare Amateur Swimming Club and retiring in 1958. She also had an actively engaged with the Show Society since 1957 and was also a foundation committee member of the Rockhampton United Ex Servicewomen's Association in 1958. Mum was such a character and the life of a party always making others laugh. Smoked like a chimney and was as stubborn as they come. Both she and Dad enjoyed a very active social life during their marriage of 15yrs. and were well respected in the community. Mum tragically died after childbirthin 1960 and our little brother did not survive Had she not been so stubborn with her health she may have been alive today !! Love You Mum
