Note: All of these records are found on the Revolutionary War Pension Application of Mary nee Buchanan, the widow of John Smith. I have not added to it at this time. Thought it needed to be posted sooner rather than later. Not sure yet if this is my Smith line although it very well may be. CR Note: In the Pension 'File is a letter addressed to Miss Rena F. Martin, 1103 Alberta Avenue in Oceanside, California, with this information, dated June 30, 1931. She is inquiring for DAR.

Note: (Research):THE VILLAGE OF BALLYMAGORRY, LECKPATRICK PARISH, CO TYRONE RENTALS, VALUATIONS ETC 1666 1858 Additional comments contained in the same correspondence include the following observations: Ballymagorry tenants are mostly very poor. NOTE: The only Smith who is still in this parish after 1827 is Hugh Smith. Ballymagorry lies 5 kms north of Strabane on the Derry Road in North Tyrone and has been a settlement since Plantation times, being founded in the early seventeenth century by Scotsman Sir George Hamilton of Greenlaw (died c1654), brother to James, 1st Earl of Abercorn. Within two generations his lands had been consolidated into the Manor of Cloghogall within the extensive Abercorn estate. Most fortunately, a number of useful eighteenth century rent rolls and valuations have survived for Ballymagorry. The Abercorn Papers form a very large collection in PRONI, Belfast that includes title deeds, rentals, accounts and correspondence relating to the Tyrone and Donegal estates from the early seventeenth century. The following data has been extracted from LDS films; researchers should check the comprehensive Family History Library catalogue for a complete listing of this microfilmed archive. HEARTH MONEY ROLL 1666: STRABANE BARONY BALLYMAGORRY William Nesmith RENT ROLL OF THE UNDERTENANTS IN THE MANOR OF CLOGHOGALL c1720 (ABERCORN PAPERS) UPPER BALLYMAGORRY Hugh Smith John Smith (can this be Samuel's father or brother) Samuel Smith (lower Ballymagorry) (Went to America in 1728)
