a. Continued:   At the time of his marriage to Anne Wendell, he was titled Lord Porchester, the title accorded to the eldest son of the Earl. In 1923, his father, the famous Egyptologist who organized the Tutankhamen excavations, died, and Henry succeeded to the title of Earl on 5 April 1923. After his divorce, he married Ottilie Ethel Losch in 1939. That marriage too ended in divorce, in 1947.
  He attended Eton and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Serving in World War I with the 7th Hussars, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He returned to duty in World War II, being decorated with the U.S. Bronze Star.
