Note: n the deeds of sale of the Smith property. Andrew's will does not name all of his children. He is often confused with the other James Duncan born 1769 who m. Jane Wiley (his first cousin). I have not found the middle name Smith on any records.

WILL: James Duncan gives to my niece Jane Manifold land called Queens Fruitful Barrens in Harford Co 11 acres 71 perches which I bought from Vincent Bosley. She is to have personal estate and to be exec. date June 1, 1852 prove May 11, 1857. WB CWB 7 p. 132 and WSR 9 p. 211 (in 1879 Mary Ann Fletcher came forward). (An earlier James Duncan had a sister Jane Duncan Manifold)
TOMBSTONE: Maybe buried at Centre Pres. Ch., , York Co, PA
BIO: The Gemmill Book says he is James Smith Duncan died 1857 buried Centre Pres. Cem. son of Andrew Duncan Esq. and Ann Smith. Unable to locate his tombstone or estate records. The other James died 1843 is buried there and has a stone. There is a James who died in 1857 but he only names a neice in his will.
BIO: The Duncan and Gibson Families Boook says he married Martha Manifold and lived in York County near the state line. His children by his first marriage were Andrew, Joseph, George, Henry, James and Smith and by a second wife had a son William. The Manifold family records say he lived about a mile or two southward of Center Church.
He is named in the pension file of Thomas Ayres - James Duncan aged 74 in 1856.
