a. Note:   Biographical Record of Harford and Cecil Co published 1897 gives John's bio. John W. Strawbridge one of the foremost merchants of Norrisville who is a native of District No. 4, Harford Co, MD his bring occurring on 8th of Nov. 1851. His parents Henry M. and Elizabeth (Almoney) Strawbridge, were natives of District No. 4 also and the occupation to which they devoted their attention throughout life was tilling the soil. At the age of 37 years Mr. Strawbridge married Miss Louisa J. Schilling, a native of St. Louis Mo but their short married life ended in the death of Mrs. Strawbridge, Jan. 27 1890 at the age of 28 years. She left an infant daugther, now 7 years of age to whom the name Louisa J. was given in honor of the mother. The later chose his second wife Miss Abbie J. Jenkins who was born in York Co, PA and they have a very pretty and comfortable home in Norrisville. During the administration of President Harrison he was made postmaster of Norrisville. He still holds the incumbency under President McKinley. p. 500-1.
