Last name "Cronis(?)" comes from Barb Johnson's Descendants of Willem Crum and it is clearly uncertain. Barb has this note: "Researcher Wayne Reynolds (GenForum Crum Family Genealogy Forum) and others have Mary's surname as Lane. The "Cronis" surname in question probably came about because of the middle name of one of Mary and Peter's sons, and the Lane name is quite likely to be correct, especially given that the Lane family or families seemed to have been intermarrying with the Crums in later generations, indicating perhaps that the two lines were friends or neighbors or possibly had "old world" connections."   There is also a possibility that Mary was a Cronister, for there was a John Cronister living in York near a William Crummin 1790, but this is a stretch.

Note:   According to Lane genealogy, Mary's father died at age 94 years and her m
