Note:   On Reese database, Ancestry.com See a Biography of George Elbert Emmitt in Portrait and Biographical Record of Tazwell and Mason Counties Illinois, Chicago Biographical Publishing Company - 1894, p. 558. This includes some information re his mother, Mrs Eliza J. Renoud Emmitt and her parents. This account indicates that Stephen Renoud was a cooper and a stage coach driver. It tells of the family's move from New York State to Ohio. They first located in Waverly, Pike County, Ohio (not to be confused with Pike County, Illinois). The next residence was Chillicothe, Ohio. This biographical account also states that Stephen was in Scioto County, Ohio in 1856 and 1857 (south central Ohio). On the 1860 Census he and his wife and son Rufus and his family were living next door to each other in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois.
  Found on the 1850 Census at Township 5S 2W, Pike, Illinois. He was 64, born in New York and was a cooper with $1200 of real property. Enumerated with his wife Lititia Renoud. Nearby were two married sons. Charles Renoud and wife Mary and their children, George and Caroline Renoud; and Rufus Renoud and wife Minerva and son Julius Renoud.
  Found on the 1860 Census at Henry, Marshall, Illinois. He was 72, born in New York and was a cooper with $3000 in real estate and $100 in property. Enumerated with his wife L. [Letitia] Renoud. Living next door were his married son and daughter-in-law Rufus and Minerva Renoud and their children, Ada and Eddie Renoud. Enumerated as S. Renaud.
