a. Note:   ecame the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) after World War 1, with Gulbenkian holding a 5% share, thus entitling him to a 5% royalty on all oil shipped out of Iraq - hence his nickname.
  Much of his wealth was invested in the collection of art works and ancient artifacts, the largest collection then owned by a single person. Shortly after his death the Gulbenkian Foundation was founded in his name. Itwhich funds, among other activities, the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisboa, Portugal. This institution holds one of the world's most complete collections of such items.
