Curry, Henry
Henry Fred Curry, 90, of the Grand Island Veterans Home, formerly of Central City, died on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the veterans home.
A celebration of life will be held privately by the family.
Mr. Curry was born on April 15, 1922, in Lawrence, Kan., to Fred S. Curry and Elizabeth Ransley.
His wife, Margie, died in October 2011 after 66 years of marriage.
Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Lee and Kay of San Francisco, Steven Marshall and Beverly of Central City and Clifford Richard and Sue of Iowa City, Iowa; a sister, Budge Todd; and a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Nickerson, and her husband, Dave.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Adam (Laura) Curry, Mary (Dan Sheetz) Curry, Sarah Curry and Paul Curry; and one great-granddaughter, Beatrice Sheetz.
Hank was a six-year resident of Central City.
Hank served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. After the war, he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Kansas University. He worked for 30 years as a supervising technical writer for the Boeing Co. in Wichita, Kan., and Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
