KSMc 10/97 BEDFORD TIMES PRESS Sarah Ann Thompson McMaster Mrs. Sarah McMaster, who had been a resident of Taylor County for about 60 years, died in her home in Polk Twp, Saturday, May 1. She leaves a large family of children who are well known here. The funeral services were held at the Hazel Dell church, Tuesday afternoon, May 4, at 2 o�clock, conducted by Rev. D.W. Griffeth, pastor of the First Baptist Church at Hopkins, Mo. Internment was made at the Hopkins Cemetery. Sarah Ann Thompson was born in Warren County, Indiana, May 23, 1840. When she was about 9 years of age the family moved to Texas and 4 years later they moved to Taylor County, where she has resided ever since. She was united in marriage to J.C. McMaster on 24 November 1859, who died March 3, 1902. To this union were born sixteen children, ten sons and six daughters. One son and 2 daughters are dead. Those who remain are: W.D., of Hopkins, Abram of Robertsdale, Ala., C.A. of Twin Falls, Id., J. Arch of Hopkins, Jerome of the home, Geo. of Bedford, Amos, Churchill, Iowa, Arthur, Meadville, Mo., Harmon of Crowley, La., Mrs. Mary Beauchamp, Twin Falls, Ida., Mrs. Martha George, Knowlton, Mont., Miss Sarah at home, Mrs. Alta Jackson, Baldwin City, Kans. Mr. and Mrs. McMaster moved to their present home the morning after their marriage in 1859. She was a charter member of the Baptist Church called Union at Hazel Dell, which was organized in 1865. She died at her home near Hopkins, MO, on May 1, 1915 at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 8 days. When about nine years of age, the family moved to Texas and four years later they moved to Taylor County, Iowa, where she resided ever since. She was united in marriage to John C. McMaster in November of 1859, who passed to the home above March 3, 1902. To this union was born sixteen children, ten sons and six daughters. One son and two daughters passed before mother to the spirit world-those who remain are W.D. of Hopkins, MO, Abraham of Robertsdale, Ala., C.A. of Twin Falls, Idaho, J. Arch of Hopkins, Jerome of Hopkins, George of Bedford, Iowa, Amos of Churchill, Idaho, Arthur of Meadville, MO, Harmon of Crowley, LA, Mrs. Mary Beauchamp of Twin Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Martha George of Knowlton, Mont., Miss Sarah at home, Mrs. Alta Jackson of Baldwin, Kansas. She was a faithful, consecrated member and a positive force for righteousness in the home and community. She stood for an aggressive evangelism which included not only her neighbors, but men and women the world over. She leaves a host of friends in the community where she lived who will miss her, but who bless God for the benediction of her life. The funeral service took place at Hazel Dell Church, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. Her pastor, Rev. Griffin, officiated in the presence of a large company of friends and relatives.
