Note: George acquired 160 acres of land on 11 June 1900 by land deeds. This porperty was six miles south of Bedford where he lived all of his life. He lived in an older house for a few years, then built a stucco house by himself on the same premises. He also built a big hip-roof barn by himself at a later time. Later, George got 5 more acres in the section west of his farm. His father deeded it to him because he had built his house too near to the edge of his property and if someone else had built a house there it would be too close to George's house. He had many evergreen trees on his property - characteristic of McMaster farms - as well as many friut trees. He raised purebred shorthorn cattle, in which he took much pride, and showed them at cattle shows. George and his wife were members of the Baptist Church of Bedford, where he attended regularly and sang in the choir. George helped some of his family in financial ways. George always stood while eating at the many family picnics. When asked why, he said so he could eat more. George had his own way of doing things. For example, he would go mow the amount of hay he could put up in a day, then raked it when dry, load it on the hay rack himself, pul it into the barn, set the fork, go lead the hay horse to put it in the mow, and when he got so much in he would go mow more. George died as a result of a team runaway accident.
