Note: In a blustery desert day, in October, 1997, my uncle Don McMaster came to town for a short, but sweet visit (kind of like him, short and sweet!) I am always fishing for stories so I asked him to write down a few when he got home and send them to me. When we were at lunch, I asked Uncle Don about Grandpa Paul's bad leg. I knew that he had an accident at the train station, but nothing more. There didn't seem to be much too it, except that he pointed out that Grandpa was the supervisor of the baggage men. It seems a large aprcel had fallen off a carrier and broke his hip. It must have been a very bad break, for Grandpa had to go to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for treatment, and had to go every year, once a year following. Don told me that Grandpa would go, every year, to Hot Springs, Arkansas for the therapy in the pools. I remember thinking I had been to Hot Springs in 198? with Robert but I didn't know that Grandpa had walked the same streets. Uncle Don said that this accident Grandpa had was in the early 40's, and that he worked for a few more years. Grandfather McMaster was employed by the New York Central Railroad as a General Foreman according to his obituary of 27 Novemebr 1959 in the Town Times of Westmont, Illinois.
