Notes
a. Note:   James Marion before his marriage was a soldier in the Civil War, enlisting at Lawrenceville August 14, 1862, assigned at Camp Butler, Springfield, Illinois, to Caption Ryan Company F. 91 Regiment, Illinois Infantry. He was taken and held prisoner at Elizabethtown, Kentucky December 27, 1862. After his release he was sent to Mobile, Alabama, where he was muster out July 12, 1865, and payed a bounty of 25.00. He later applied for pension, and after his death a application was filed for assistance to care for his minor children. Some of the Old Hensley letters was written by James Marion to his mother Sarah Ann, and to his brother George W. who was also in the Civil War. What a gratifying experience to read letters written by our ancestors more than 110 years ago.
