Note: FAMILY HISTORY of SARAH BELLE DILLON is of EDWARD ELLSWORTH DILLON The said Sarah Belle Dillon was the daughter of Samuel Dillon, born July 9, 1804 in North Carolina, died April 22, 1876, in Dubois County, Indiana, and is buried in Shiloh graveyard, south of Ireland, Indiana; his second wive, Jane McMahan, born August 11, 1820, in Dubois County, Indiana, died August 13, 1890, and is buried in the Shiloh Cemetery. They were married about June 1835. The said Samuel Dillon was the son of Benjamin Dillon, born 1750, died about 1806. His wife Charlotte Hunning, born in 1779, died March 17, 1856. They were married in Tyrell County, North Carolina, April 24, 1799. The said Benjamin Dillon was the ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence while acting as Lieutenant and Ensign during the War of the Revolution. DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE: 1. Samuel, born July 9, 1804, died 1876, married first, Elizabeth McMahan,, born January 13, 1811, died February 1835, Married 1828. Second, Jane McMahan, born August 11, 1820, died Augst6 13, 1890, married in May or June, 1835. Elizabeth and Jane were sisters. 4. Brittiania, born January 6, 1806, twice married, first to a Mr. Ford, then to John Norman.
