Note: The following is the obituary of Eliza J. (Johnson) DeWitt, mother of Vennie (DeWitt) Dillon, (Vennie wife of Evan Ellsworth Dillon and daughter-in-law of Edward Ellsworth Dillon) Obituary Mrs. Eliza J. DeWitt was born February 8, 1854, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. B. Levi, Kansas City, Kansas, at a tripe old age of 77 years, 7 months and 14 days. Her husband, one sone and one daughter preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss six daughters, Mrs. Josie Kittle, Maxwell, Neb.; Mrs. Littie Horne, Sinton, Tex.; Mrs. Grace Preitauer, Brady, Neb.; Mrs. Eunice Lane, Fort Collins, Colo.; Mrs. Jennie DeWitt, York, Neb.; and Mrs. Vennie Dillon, Homedale, Idaho; two sons, W. D. DeWitt of Ainsworth and F.S. DeWitt of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Julia Ewing, Ainsworth, and two brothers, Milt Johnson, York, Neb.; and Frank Johnson, Fulton, Neb. Funeral services were held in Kansas City, Wednesday September 23, at the Church of God. The remains were taken to Ainsworth and placed in the hands of the Jessen funeral home. Services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Assembly of God church by Rev. C. E. Thurmond and re remains were laid to rest in the Cornish Cemetery. Mrs. DeWitt was converted in early life and united with the Medodist church until seven years ago. She came into the Pentecostal church last years, uniting with the Church of God, Kansas City.
