Note: r by his Grandparents. He started working at Bowlingreen Mill as a Mill Hand in 1887 aged 16 and was still there in 1896 aged 25. There is a photograph of him along with other workmates in the book 'Bowlingreen Mill' 1979 by Michael McGarvie. Somerset Gazette Friday 30th November 1945 The funeral of the late Mr Albert Whitcombe, of the Dovecote, Grange Road, Street, whose death at the age of 74 was recorded in our last issue, took place on Friday last at Street Cemetry. The Rev. H Cunliffe-Jones conducted the Service. The chief mourners were : Mr Arthur Whitcombe, son, (Mrs W E Webb, Mrs F H Marsh, Mrs C E Holway, daughters); Mr J H Marsh, son-in-law; Philip, Lauri and Lilian Whitcombe; Mr S Durstan, brother-in-law, (Mr Frank Durstan, Mr S Durstan, cousins) ( Mr S Durstan, Mr Stephen Durstan, nephews) Mr Roger Clark, Mr A Seager, Mr George Barber, Mrs M George, Mrs E Best, Mrs A Trott, Mrs F G Wells, Mr J Vaughan, Mrs A Cox, Mr S Hiscox, Miss R Teague, Mr W Holway, Mr F Barrett and other friends and neighbours were also present. Mr A Boyce was the undertaker.
