Mary Gilliam, daughter of John and Jane(Henry) Gilliam of Pr. G eo. William Poythress was a captain in theContinental Army during the Revolution. He was th e principle beneficiaryof the 1779 will of Thomas Epes 132 32. In 1790 William Poythress deed edto William S. Peachy the same 300 acres of Flowerdew Hundred, previouslymentioned, that Joh n Hardyman had conveyed by deed of gift to the firstJoshua Poythress and had by the latter be en devised to the second Joshua,who had, in turn, devised the same to his son William, the pr esentgrantor. William also owned a tract of 863 acres on Simmons Branch uponwhich he had bee n living at the time he died. It is probable that the youngest of the sons had reached legal age bythat time. William Poyth ress may have been buried there.
