a. Note:   Forth child born to Morgan and Sarah E. (BOONE) PASLAY on 17Apr1900 at Brewster, Okanogan Co. Washington.
  Morgan died 16Aug1902 at Gordon. Sarah married Morgan's brother William's son Thomas Riley PASLAY in Aug1904. The orchards that Morgan and William started in the 1880 on the banks of the Columbia near Central Ferry Cayon (T.30N, R. 24E; T. 29N. R. 24E) were sold to settle the probate (Douglas Co. Superior Court case #135, Vol. 1, Page 160, Film P4) of Morgan's estate in about 1910. Tom and Sarah then purchased and operated the Central Ferry Cayon cable ferry across the Columbia River at Gordon.
  In 1914, the railroad bridge was completed at Pateros which was the final link between Wenatchee and Oroville. Dolly (Lulu's step sister remembers buggy ride to Pateros to see train. Lulu attended Central Ferry School, at Gordon. Class of 1916. Teacher was Martha (Mrs. Frank) Ervin, 2Jun1916 graduates were Lula Faye Paslay, Sarah Evalyn Ervin, Bessie I. Brown, and Roy D. Paslay.
  Lula Fay Paslay married Arthur E. Dezellem on 9May1918 in Bridgeport, Douglas Co. WA (Douglas Co. Records - Marriages: #237, Vol. "D" Page 89). Married by Chas H Schreiber. She signed as Lula, and was living at Gordon.
  The Tom Paslay's sold the cable ferry and moved to Mills Flat above Methow, Okanogan Co. WA. in 1918 to farm. The Charles and Willard Paslay farm was about a half mile away.
  After their marriage, Art and Lulu lived and worked with Art's brothers on the Dezellem Family farm. Lulu stayed at the farm while Art was in the Army [enlisted at Waterville and was inducted into the Army (s/n 3433059) on 13Aug 1918, discharged 1 Jan 1919]. They resumed farming with his brothers and other odd jobs until mid 1920's when they moved to Mills Flats. Marion recalls that the house on Mills Flats wasn't much, no glass windows. In about 1926, Art & Lulu bought ("traded two milk cows" according to Harold Otto who worked with Art and brother Henry on the State Hiway) property (approximateley 2.5 acres in "Tax No.1 of Tract 7 of Bolinger's Plat No.1, in Lot 10 of Section 7, T. 30 N., R23 E. W. M.") below Methow and started an apple orchard. Work around Grand Coulee Dam started in 1933 and the family rented in Mason City, Okanogan Co. WA. while Art worked as an oiler on a steam-shovel operated by a Carl Fox for Goodfellow Contruction (reference to Carl appears on page 92 of "Behind the By-Line HU" by HU Blonk ISBN 0-87062-221-8).
  1920; Federal Census (Bridgeport, Douglas Co., Washington; Supervisor Dist #5; Enumeration Dist. #26; Dwelling #27) lists Alvin Dezellem (56, Head of household); Mary A. (52, Wife); Andrew L. (15, Son, Single); Harold L. (12, Son, Single); Lester R. (11, Son, Single); Margaret Willms (19, Servant); Aurthur E. Dezellem (23, Son, Married); Lula F. (19, Boarder, Married); and Henry A. (20, Son, Single).
  Art Dezellem died at Mason City (Okanogan Co. WA) Hosipital after an illness of two weeks with pneumonia and complications. Probate of his estate (Superior Court case #2235, Okanagon Co. WA.) in Jul1935, sold the Methow Orchard.
  Lula and children (Marion, Dorthy, and Donald) moved to Pateros in 1935, renting at about three different places(Kellogg house, Herr house, Fuller house) before she bought the house on ?Florence? St. (one block South of Warren Ave.) in about 1937 from E.F. Johnson. Lulu married William T. "Bill" Moriarty on 1Jan1950 at Dayton, Columbia Co. WA. They contiued to lived inher Pateros house until they moved to Winthrop, WA. in about 1954. The Pateros house was sold in 196_ to the PUD during the construction of Wells Dam. When Bill retired in 196_, they bought and moved to1728 Tacoma Ave. in Bridgeport, WA. Lula died there 16Oct1966 from heart conditions complicated by diabetes. She is buried in the Packwood Cemetery (started by Grandfather Thomas Jackson Paslay) at the head of Central Ferry Cayon. Probate (Douglas Co. Superior Court Case #3408 Vol. 9, Page 538, Film P64)
  Lulu cooked for the Pateros Hotel (late 1930's); for the Pateros School (1940 -42); CJ Bennett Lumber Co. at McFarlind Cr. above Methow (1942-43); a partner in the Lincoln Cafe in Brewster (1943-44); for the Pateros Cafe (1944-47) then operated it on her own (1947-48). She operated a boarding-house (meals) from her home in Pateros (1948-50). She cooked for a restaurant in Winthrop (1954-57). When she wasn't cooking during apple harvest she packed (hand wrapped and boxed) apples.
  Lulu was artistic, sewed, cloth painting,
