Note: "Harry" left High School (East York CI) early to care for his family, quashing his dream of becoming a lawyer. His father "Charlie" could no longer work at his trade of builder -cement worker.....his sister Hazel with her husband "Harry" Carman also lived with the family. Harry Carman was a printer at the Toronto Star, son of a Star columnist Henry Dean Carman ( whose uncle was Bliss Henry Carman). Harry was out of work when the Star printers went on strike never to return and Harry Magee helped to support everyone. He worked at many different jobs, where work was available during the Depression years....... Following his marriage in 1943 for a short time. he owned a small variety store on Main Street in Toronto He then went to work for the Ontario Jockey Club. He was the Assiatant Manager in the restaurant at the Dufferin grove race track in toronto until it closed. He then continued to work for the OJC in various capacities in the Money Room until he retired.
