Notes
a. Note:   The McClanahan name stems from Ireland. Spelling variations of the name include Lanigan, Lanahan, Lenaghan, Lanaghan, Linehan, and others. First found in county Roscommon, which is now about 2/3 of the way between Dublin on the east coast and Galway on the west coast, where they were granted lands by Strongbow after his invasion of Ireland in 1172. Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Michael Lanagan, who came to Newfoundland in 1814; Edward Lanaghan, who arrived in St. John, New Brunswick in 1834; Cornelius, Biddy, and George Lanagan, who all arrived in Philadelphia in 1828.
