Note:   From Charleston Gazette, Friday, 12 Jun 1936, p. 10, Charleston, Kanawha, WV: Miss Selma Bek Is Married To Mr. Arnold C. Asbury The marriage of Miss Selma Bek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bek of Columbia avenue, to Mr. Arnold C. Asbury, son of Mrs. J. Albert Asbury of Charleston, took place at six o'clock Wednesday night at Bream Memorial Presbyterian church. The Rev. E. J. Agsten, assistant pastor of the church, officiated. Altar Is Decorated Palms, ferns and hydrangeas decorated the altar which was lighted by tall candelabra placed at each side. Preceding the cermony, Miss Lillian Crislip, organist, played Liszt's "Liebestraum" and Mendelssohn's "On Wings of Song." Mr. John Mack of St. Louis, cousin of the bride, sang "Oh Promise Me", and "I Love You Truly". The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white lace gown, fashioned with a flared skirt and worn with a short sleeved jacket. Her crownless hat was made of white moire ribbon and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Dorothy Bek and Miss Marguerite Bek, sisters of the bride, were maid of honor and bridesmaid. Miss Dorothy Bek wore a blue frosted organdie dress over a taffeta slip, and a blue picture hat. Her flowers were delphinium in an arm bouquet. Miss Marguerite Bek wore a frock of pink frosted organdy and a pink picture hat. She carried an arm bouquet of pink snapdragons. Mrs. Bek, mother of the bride, wore a pink lace frock and white accessories. Her shoulder bouquet was of Talisman roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a black and white chiffon dress and her flowers were gardenias in a shoulder bouquet. Brother Is Attendant Mr. Donald Asbury attended his brother as best man. Mr. Clark Ault was groomsman. Ushers were Mr. R. J. Schild, Mr. J. A. Thomas, Mr. David Bird and Mr. Dorsey Ewing. A reception was held from eight until ten o'clock at the bride's home. Roses and hydrangeas decorated the home and white flowers and candles formed the decorations in the dining room. Assisting at the reception were Miss Virginia Asbury, Miss Martha Dotson, Miss Freda Thaxton, Mrs. R. J. Schild, Miss Jane Hutchinson, Mrs. R. H. Mariani, Miss Ruth Mack and Mrs. Ernest Ratcliff. On their return from a motor trip, Mr. and Mrs. Asbury are to reside at 408 Wyoming street. Out of town guests and the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. John Mack, Miss Ruth Mack, Miss Martha Mack, Miss Mary Virginia Mack, Mr. Armand Mack, Mr. John Philip Mack, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Schild, Mrs. Walter Schild and Miss Augusta Krusz of St. Louis and Mrs. Edward Theobald of Millstadt, Ill.
