Note:   Another witness suggests Adam B. Aultz Sr. arrived in the colonies in 1771 as a professional soldier. However, the Revolutionary War was five years away, so he could not have been among the Hessian troops brought in by the British to aid them. Also, since he was later given a large tract of land in the western part of Virginia (1100 acres), it is clear he did not fight for the British but for the rebelling colonists. Were he actually old enough to fight on behalf of the Americans in the war so as to be as highly compensated as he was, I would guess he would be at least 18 and perhaps 20 at the beginning of the War, which would place his birth date closer to 1756 or 1758, or at least 10 years earlier than the date(s) suggested by my sources. Were he born in 1756, it is also plausible he could have lived until 1831, when he would have been 75 years of age, an age to which a hearty person could well have lived, even in those more rustic and perilous times.
