Note: OBITUARY from Marietta Times, 9 Aug 1979: Dorothea (Dottie) Bek Partridge died yesterday at Marietta Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born in St. Louis, Mo., Jan 19, 1917, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John J. Bek. Mrs. Partridge attended public schools in Charleston, W.Va., and worked for the C[hesapeake] and P[otomac] Telephone Co. in Charleston. She married Joseph Partridge of Caldwell, N.J., in 1941. She and her husband played in the Charleston Symphony Orchestra for eight years. In 1947, she moved to Marietta, where she served for several years as assistant curator of the Campus Martius Museum. She later became executive secretary of the First United Presbyterian Church and serve in that capacity for many years. For 32 years she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir and served on the church school teaching staff. Mrs. Partridge was a member of the board of trustees of Marietta Memorial Hospital for many years and was one of the organizers of the Mid-Ohio Valley Players, acting as treasurer and also appearing in several productions. She was an active member and past president of Rotary Anns and the Woman's Golf Association, Marietta Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; a daughter, Peggy Wittekind of Lowell; a son, Robert, of Lima; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Arnold Asbury of Toledo and Mrs. Clark Ault of Charleston, W.Va. The body was taken to Columbus for cremation. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church at Fourth and Wooster streets. The family asks that gifts may be made to the memorial fund of the church.

Note: Aunt Dottie's sister, Selma Bek Asbury, my mother (researcher Douglas Asbury), told me that Aunt Dottie asked that her body be cremated and that her children take a Caribbean cruise using assets of the estate to do so and to spread her ashes over the Caribbean, which I believe they did.
