Notes
a. Note:   [Combs Harley Adams.FTW]
Charles Harley was in the first world war, stationed in France. He developed a severe rheumatic condition, while in the army, which plagued him most of his life. Despite his pain, he worked hard to support his family, and kept a cheerful disposition and a sense of humor for his entire life.
He farmed for many years, then left the farm to work at Glenmore distilleries until he was forced to retire from ill health.
  He had two weaknesses.
The first was an eye for the ladies, a sin which he was known to give in to at least twice during his long marriage. These indescretions brought great grief to those who loved him, but fortunately they eventually ended with his marriage in tack
His second weakness was a taste for storng drink, which he apparently did not discover until his middle age years. Although he appeared to become almost instantly addicted, this too lasted only about five years. After his heart attack, he redidicated his life to Christ, and as far as anyone knew never drank again.
He had a cousin named Pearl Braum. She had a son, Ralph who married Verble West. Exace source of this connection not clear.
There was another cousin named Arthur Harley, and one named Evert Adams. It is not clear how these relationionships originated. Possibly through "Buck Harley" and "Charley Adams), but no definite link has been established at this time.
