Note: Jesse was a bit of a character mixed with some bad fortune, it seems His first wife was Eliza Moor, who he maried 23AUG1821 in Hillsboro, OH - he was widowed by this wife and the "grapevine" said that she was killed by someone. They had a daughter, Sarah, who married William Erwin in Madison Co., OH in 1839; another daughter, Malinda Stout, who was born in 1823 in OH and died 1864 most likely in DeWitt Co., IL as she is buried in Pleasant Valley Cem. in DeWitt Co.; their 3rd daughter was Lydia, my husband's great-grandmother, who maried Jacob Trowbridge 09SEP1865 in DeWitt Co., IL after her first husband, Wm. Wallace, was killed in the Civil War. So that accounts for 1st wife, Eliza Moor - 2nd wife was Rebecca Clemence - after Rebecca died, he married (3) Ann Walraven on 09JAN1849 in Clinton, DeWitt Co., IL. Jesse divorced Ann, claiming that she was trying to poison him. Then he married a (4) Jane Leeds, b.4MAR1801 - they were married 31JAN1856 in Clinton, DeWitt Co., IL - and Jane died 28MAR1887. She is buried with Jesse in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, DeWitt Co., IL. Jesse operated the Trunbridge Mill, DeWitte Co., Ill. Source Marlyn Duff New Berlin, WI [email protected]@aol.com |
